Whirlwind on the Water

Have you ever had those nights when your mind was full? The uncomfortable fullness that you get from overeating or having that extra dessert but it’s not your tummy but your head full of thoughts. Those thoughts; some pertinent,  some silly, some strange, some from the past and some from the now. A few of those thoughts constructive, a few creative and some just random.

You are a whirlwhind on the calm water. Making waves in areas where there were none. Making the calm waters react in both beauty and chaos.

You pray and during that time of prayer, God gives you flashbacks of things you did well, things you did ok with and thinks you really messed up. To be honest, this is not appreciated–you want warm fuzzies, kudos. Not reminders of times that you disappointed Him or others or yourself but these aren’t film reels of your least greatest moments but how you conquered those lows.

You go to your Bible but clear your mind not to read it as you want or as they want but as He wants. It takes a few times for societies voices to dim and His voice to be heard.

Whirlwhinds on the water are violent
They are beautiful
They are cleansing
They are motion
They are action and reaction
They are paradox

This is life today, moving but staying in one place. Trying to make something happen but not going anywhere.  A whirlwhind can dissipate hitting land or it can grow. We can dissipate in our Faith or we can grow.

The world is changing, the storms are changing. Is our faith changing with it?

I am a wife, mother, and pastor. We moved from Bowling Green, Missouri to Idaho Falls in 2016. I am a native of Eastern Washington state. In 2013 I had 2 strokes in 8 days and this is my journey of faith, family and health. I believe no matter what happens in your life that God can use it for His glory.
